The 3M Tegaderm Silicone Foam range of dressings features a unique multi-layer design with an adjustable moisture vapour transmission rate and a super-absorbent layer to manage wounds with low to high exudation and maintain the skin's microclimate. This foam dressing has been shown to support tissue stress redistribution. The innovative 3M adhesive technology offers strong yet gentle adhesion, making it ideal for use in pressure injury prevention and wound management for fragile skin. Additionally, these dressings incorporate a patented spoke delivery system for easy application.
How does it work?
The foam layer wicks moisture away, while the superabsorbent layer locks it in place. The moisture control layer then evaporates the moisture, helping reduce the risk of skin maceration. The strong yet gentle adhesive holds the dressing securely in place, providing the same gentle adhesion as other silicone dressings on the market. The strong adhesion and low-profile edge help minimize rolling and lifting, particularly in high shear areas.
When to use it?
Tegaderm Silicone Foam Dressing is suitable for managing low- to highly-exuding partial and full-thickness wounds, including:
- Pressure injuries
- Neuropathic ulcers
- Skin tears
- Venous leg ulcers
- Arterial ulcers
- Surgical wounds
The dressing can be part of a comprehensive pressure injury prevention program and may be repositioned for skin assessment. It is also suitable for use with compression therapy.
