VAXCHORA is a prescription vaccine designed for children aged 2 years and older, as well as adults up to 64 years old, to help protect against cholera. It is taken orally and is recommended for travelers visiting areas affected by cholera.
This vaccine specifically targets cholera caused by Vibrio cholerae serogroup O1. However, it has not been proven effective for individuals living in areas where cholera is prevalent, those already immune due to prior exposure or vaccination, or cases caused by bacteria not covered by the vaccine.
