The ConMed Hyfrecator 2000 is a low-power, high-frequency, high-voltage electrosurgical unit (ESU), a medical device that is used for various skin surgical procedures. It is often used for the removal of skin cancers, skin tags, red skin, sun spots, skin lesions, warts, moles, and other unwanted tissue. It allows healthcare professionals to perform procedures with minimal bleeding and scarring. Current is precisely controlled to 1/10th of a watt on LO and broader arcs of current are achieved using the HI setting.
Using a safe form of electrosurgery, the Hyfrecator 2000 works with a steady current to heat up and destroy targeted tissue, which can have different outcomes depending on the technique and power settings used. Featuring dual microprocessors, one controls the device functionality while the other detects safety issues and can shut off the device if necessary.
The ConMed Hyfrecator 2000 is used for electrocauterization which effectively cauterizes blood vessels to minimize bleeding during surgical procedures and is commonly used for skin removal procedures. It is also great for fulguration which causes the skin to carbonize (creating an eschar) which completely destroys the contact area. The Hyfrecator 2000 can also effectively ’boil’ water in tissue, turning it to steam and killing the tissue without it looking burned, called desiccation.
