Monosyn® is a sterile synthetic absorbable monofilament surgical suture composed of a copolymer blend: 72% glycolide, 14% ε-caprolactone, and 14% trimethylenecarbonate. It is dyed violet using D&C Violet No 2 (colour index number 60725), but is also available in an undyed (beige) option. Meeting the standards of the European Pharmacopoeia and the United States Pharmacopoeia for sterile, synthetic absorbable monofilament sutures, Monosyn® is versatile for various surgical applications with minor variations in suture diameter.
Indication: Monosyn® is recommended for general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation in procedures related to general surgery, gynaecology, and oral surgery, including skin closure. However, it is not suitable for use in cardiovascular, ophthalmic, or neurological tissues.
Typical applications of Monosyn® include:
Subcutaneous and intracutaneous sutures.
